Quirky Cottage – Things to Note

Tros yr Afon is a Georgian cottage and, as a result, there are a few quirky things to take note of before booking. We want our cottage to be the perfect choice for you and hope these notes will help ensure it is “just right”.

Tros yr Afon has always worked well as a multi-generation house, with the ground floor providing privacy for one couple.

You can use the 3D tour to see exactly what we have highlighted, ensuring this is the right cottage for you.

Ground Floor: Please note the Ground Floor is not all on one level

If you need to have all rooms on the same level then this will, sadly, not be the best house for you.

Playroom / Ground Floor Shower Room: there are two steps down into the playroom. The doorframe is therefore a little lower and you need to mind your head if you are above average height.

Super-King Bedroom: is on the ground floor and to access its shower room you will need to step down into the playroom to walk through to the shower room. Also, the wardrobe for this bedroom is in the playroom.

Utility Room Area: there is one step down into this hall – this is where you will find the Utility Room (low ceiling) and the back door to the Secret Garden.

The Stairs: the Georgian stairs are not carpeted, please ensure you are aware of this with children. It may be worth packing slippers.

Mid-Landing Bathroom: there are two shallow steps up into this bathroom from the curve in the main stairs, the doorframe is therefore a little lower.

Upstairs:

The King Bedroom: there is one step up to this bedroom.

The Twin Bedroom: there is one step down into this bedroom.

Sitting Room: there is one step up into this room.

The back Utility Room area: there is one step down into this hall – this is where you will find the Utility Room (low ceiling) and the back door to the Secret Garden.

Outside:

The Secret Garden: the back garden is very private and is accessed via the old Fisherman’s Cottages (now our sheds) at the back of the house. There is a fenced in well in the back garden.

The garden you see from the Family Bathroom belongs to our neighbour. A joy to look at as he keeps it looking wonderful.

The Main Front Garden: this garden has cottage garden planting and is enjoyed by all our guests. It has a gate that can be closed. Please note, as with most Beaumaris houses, there is a pavement and a road that runs in front of the cottage.
